SCHOOL DISCIPLINARY CODE
  1. School rules are clearly set out and are available to learners and parents.

  2. Learners and parents are fully informed about the school’s rules and disciplinary procedures.

  3. Rules are interpreted and applied consistently and in the same way by all educators.

  4. Learners must have the opportunity to state their case during a disciplinary process.

  5. Discipline can only be applied by an educator if he/she was in the class during an alleged violation, or if such violation is reported by a committee member or class captain, or also if learners themselves would lodge a complaint with the educator.

  6. Educators must move to learners immediately when the bell rings.

  7. Parents’ full cooperation and input is expected.

  8. Category 3 and 4 offenses will be communicated to parents by telephone.
  9. Each term starts with a clean record except for category 3 which is carried over to the next term. All violations are kept on record for the entire year.
For category 3 and 4 offences, a disciplinary hearing can take place.
  10. The principal may change the nature of offenses at discretion..
  11. Parents should please cooperate with regard to discipline.

DETENTION

FRIDAYS  – From14:00 to 15:00 (13:00 to 14:00 during exam time)

BEHAVIOR: From 14:00 to 16:00 (Times are subject to change).

Compulsory activities or as the educator decides under supervision. No homework.

PROUD WHALER

At Kleinmond Primary we also have a positive point system. Teachers use their own discretion to award points to learners based on their positive behaviour. As soon as learners accumulate 6 points, they will receive a proud whaler button. After 3 buttons, the learner will receive a BLUE PROUD WHALER badge. After a further 6 buttons, the learner will receive a RED PROUD WHALER badge.

The idea is that learners receive pints for positive behaviour that stretches further than what is expected of them.
